Replacement Seats

Can I replace the seat on my forklift truck with any seat that will fit?

No. Most forklift trucks built from 1986 to the present, will have some type of operator restraint system consisting of seat belts, hip bars, wings or shoulder restraints, etc., in order to keep the operator inside the confines of the operator's compartment in the event of a tip over.

Some forklift trucks built prior to 1986 will also have these devices, if the manufacturer has had a retrofit program in place to equip older trucks with an operator restraint system.

Most operator restraint systems are integral to the seat or require a seat that is designed to have the restraint system components mounted to it.

Before replacing the seat on any forklift truck, you must check with the truck manufacturer to determine what operator restraint system, if any, is available or required for the machine and what seat is required in order to properly maintain the truck and its safety features.

Avoid purchasing generic, non-OEM seats, regardless of how inexpensive they may be. Installing these non-approved seats will compromise the safety of the operator and put the employer / owner of the truck at great risk of liability.

We sell OEM-approved seats for most models of lift trucks and skid steer loaders.
