Safety Training

NEON offers a comprehensive lift truck operator safety training class designed for new operators, experienced operators, maintenance personnel, supervisors, and plant safety and management personnel.

  • Our operator safety training programs are technical training programs.
  • We train operators on the important technical matters that will keep them from making the kinds of mistakes that result in accidents involving property damage and personal injuries.
  • We train operators to be “accident prevention specialists”; to recognize hazards and how to eliminate them, avoid them, or adjust their mode of operation so as to maintain safe operation at all times.

This course is designed to achieve the goals of:

  • Providing you with comprehensive training that exceeds OSHA's minimum requirements per OSHA Standard 1910.178(l)(3).
  • Providing training that will make you a material handling professional and an accident prevention specialist.
  • Reducing equipment operating costs.
  • Maintaining employers' compliance with OSHA regulations.

This course includes all OSHA required content:

  • Why training is required and unique design features of lift trucks.
  • Inspection & maintenance procedures and precautions.
  • Capacity & stability concepts, principles, and application.
  • Rules of safe operation; general and job-site specific.
  • Basic operating procedures and maneuvering techniques.
  • Load handling procedures for traveling and high stacking.
  • Surfaces and environments & maintaining safety of co-workers.
  • Refueling procedures for engine and electric powered trucks.

This course includes:

  • Lecture and demonstrations.
  • Video presentation and worksheet.
  • Written exam graded in classroom discussion group.

Telescopic Handlers

We conduct operator safety training for all brands and models of telescopic handlers.

While many of the basic principles of operation and stability are the same for these machines as for straight mast forklift trucks, the variable reach telescopic boom and surface conditions prevalent where these machines are used present special concerns for which operators must be trained.

Due to the size and stance of these machines, untrained operators can easily make wrong assumptions and judgements if not thoroughly trained. Recognition of hazards and use of proper operating techniques is critical to safe operation. If you don't know what you don't know, catastrophic accidents can happen.

Always wear your seat belt, read the operator's manual thoroughly before operating, and call us for training!

We want you to go home safe and sound at the end of each work day and to never have to say, "You won't believe what happened at work today!"
