Capacity Rating Nameplates
The ANSI B56.1 Standard requires that the manufacturer install on all forklift trucks, a durable nameplate showing the capacity rating of the truck, the approximate weight of the truck, and additional information depending upon the type of truck and its intended use.
The B56.1 Standard also requires that the owner or user of the truck maintains the nameplates in good legible condition. (B56.1, Paragraph 4.2.3)
Damaged and Illegible Nameplates
If the capacity rating nameplate on your forklift truck is damaged and illegible, you must contact the dealer or manufacturer to obtain a new capacity rating nameplate for the truck in order to be in compliance with the ANSI B56.1 Standard and OSHA regulations.
